Freeze and Fuse

I recently took a class at Contempo Art Glass taught by Betty Stevens-White and her daughter Jamie. I just couldn’t imagine what Freeze and Fuse meant. I assumed there was some trick. Put blocks of ice in a 1350 degree kiln? No. This can’t work. The class was fantastic. Betty and Jamie explained every detail very well. The handouts describe what I need to know to recreate the process flawlessly. The Contempo facilities are always great. Frit, water, a freezer is all it took. Blocks of ice filled with frit in a 1350 degree kiln. The results are awesome! This will open up a ton of new possibilities.
